  • Agricultural Exports Increase by 14% y/y in 2021

Agricultural exports have marked an increase by 14% year-on-year in 2021, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca said on Thursday during her speech at the Parliamentary Committee of Production Activity, Trade and Environment.

Minister Krifca said that “we have an increase in exports of processed products and this is good news for Albanian agriculture because it means that the value of primary products of Albania remains in our country, thus leading to more value in wages which is also our goal”.

The Committee discussed on Thursday the draft law on some additions and amendments to the law on plant protection.

Present during the discussion, Minister Krifca said that the amendments aim to increase control on farms.

The draft law stipulates that the import and transit of plants, plant products and other objects in the territory of the Republic of Albania are done at the border entry points where the phytosanitary control operates and are subject to inspection.

“The fiscal exemption for fuel used by fishing vessels continues similar to the tax- free oil scheme for agriculture that is expected to begin very quickly for the second year in a row” Minister Krifca noted that the government supports with funds the oil subsidy scheme in the agricultural sector for 2022 and this scheme is expected to start soon.

The fishermen will continue to receive tax-free oil, at stock exchange prices, in addition to other facilities that include the exemption from value-added tax (VAT) of nets and other fishing materials.
