Switzerland’s Role in a Changing World

In an era defined by rapid transformation, Switzerland continues to reflect on its role and responsibilities on the global stage. Ambassadors and diplomats from 170 Swiss representations worldwide convened in Bern for the annual #BoKo2025 conference, a key forum where Switzerland’s foreign policy priorities are discussed and refined.
The gathering places a spotlight on the challenges and opportunities facing the country today: from evolving security policies and the rise of disruptive technologies to the far-reaching consequences of global shifts on Switzerland’s economy. Adding weight to the dialogue, Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani joined as a special guest, highlighting the importance of Switzerland’s close ties with its neighbors and partners.
Summing up the spirit of the conference, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis emphasized Switzerland’s enduring mission: “Our task remains the same: to recognize change, anticipate its consequences, and translate them into concrete diplomatic action.”
This commitment reflects Switzerland’s unique position as a neutral yet proactive actor in international affairs, balancing tradition with innovation in pursuit of stability, cooperation, and prosperity.
